1973 Jeep J4000

Project Overview

The J4000 truck is Tim's second vehicle that has come to Jonesy's shop.  This project started when Tim decided that he needed a pickup truck and being a Jeep lover, the truck naturally had to be a Jeep.  After months of looking, he tracked down the truck he wanted a couple hundred miles from the shop.  We hooked up our trailer and spent a weekend retrieving the vehicle.

Once the truck arrived back at our shop, we did a little engine work and checked the various systems to get it road worthy.  Tim drove the truck for about six months; it became known as the "Ramble-Turd".  Tim decided it was time for an upgrade and a new project began at our shop.

The project plan was to swap the the existing 360 Quadra-Trac drive train out for a Vortec 350 small block Chevy, 700R4 transmission, and a NP205 transfer case.  All the 1/2 ton running gear was replaced with 3/4 ton running gear. Along with these modifications a new wiring harness  was installed.

This will give Tim a chance to drive the truck for a while and decide whether or not more modifications are needed before moving on to body work and paint.
